Do You Have to Travel to “Go Somewhere?”

Do you have to travel to go somewhere? The simple answer to that is, no you don’t have to travel to “go somewhere.” The topic comes up every week before spring break. And the questions come around sounding like: Are we going to the Bahamas? Are we staying home? Is it a cruise?! But the amount of stress that comes along with that is absolutely insane. Personally, I know for sure that every state, no matter what, has something for anyone. Think about it like this: if you are at home, bored out of your mind, and can’t think of anything to do, well the present is all you have, so think of something to do. As crazy as that sounds, it’s actually pretty simple.

If you have a dog, take it for a walk. If you have a pen or pencil, draw yourself a map and go for an adventure. Go to your next door neighbors house and bring up the idea and say, “Lets try something new for a change!” If it’s cold, and snowy, in a snowier state, put on a movie that takes you somewhere farther away from your chilly oasis. If you want a beach sunset for a picture, do the fun DIY project and grab sand from your local department store and make it in your driveway. Or your backyard. And take that picture! Call friends over, set your laptop up outside instead of indoors like always. Grab blankets and snacks. Be under the stars and watch the movie. If you have to study like many, sit in a new spot, with a new view, somewhere to keep you from getting distracted.  You don’t need a fancy, expensive vacation to “travel”. You can create a vacation in your own home, neighborhood, or even your backyard. As cheesy as it sounds, anything is possible, honestly anything is. Discover something new and make it your own so it’s the vacation you will always remember.
