AP Exams in New Jersey
AP, or Advanced Placement, classes are courses at the college level offered by the College Board (the same “non-profit” who gives the SAT and ACT). The courses are designed to emulate the difficulty and material of college level classes all the while giving students college credits which are accepted universally by colleges, but in order to receive these credits students must pay up to $100 (per exam) and take and pass an exam at the end of the course.
For some time now there has been a growing trend of schools starting in August rather than September. Although, it would not be difficult for the college board to give a different exam to students who finish school in June. The College Board already makes multiple exams in order to stop cheating or fraud, so it would not be arduous to take one of the multiple exams and give it at a later time rather than force students to cram.
