Fun Holiday Traditions

Ahh… the holidays. A fun time for everyone. It’s finally time for us to get together with the family and have some fun. However, there’s one small problem. Your family is boring. Luckily, as a person who doesn’t celebrate any holidays during December, I have some traditions that will hopefully spice up your holiday.

Firstly, let’s talk dinner. As fun as it may be to hear your weird uncle’s messed-up political opinions, we can spice this occasion up a bit. There’s a game my family likes to play called “Last One Standing”. The idea is simple. Everyone chooses a number from one to ten. After that, a die is rolled. If your number gets chosen, then the entire family gets to ruthlessly bully you. Anything goes. Career choices, relationships, physical appearances, everything is fair game. The last person to get a mental breakdown is the winner. This is a fun tradition since it allows for more awareness and a better understanding among everyone.

Secondly, this is a play on the popular game “Spin the Bottle”. Now, it’s under the name “Spin for Eviction”. As usual, everyone sits in a circle. Then, you spin the bottle. Whoever the bottle lands on is forced to sleep outside for a day, week, or however long you like. I’ve had to sleep outside for two months at one point.

While these traditions are not for everyone, they brought my family closer together than ever, and I hope it’ll do the same for you. Happy Christmas!
