Unpopular Opinion: These Fashion Trends Should Go
Ah, fashion. Such a fun thing. I personally find it fun to experiment with clothing, and it’s clear to see that Boro agrees with this as well. Adidas hoodies, GAP hoodies, Air Jordan reps, Yeezy reps, you name it, this place has it.
However, not everyone can be as “dripped out” as we are. Sure, I could be the one-millionth person to pop on here and say “erm…. Unpopular opinion…. Runway fashion is really bad…” but I think we’re all well aware of that. Rather, I think we should talk about the elephant in the room. Plain white vintage t-shirts. But I know what you’re probably thinking. “Bilal, isn’t it kind of ironic that you’re saying that? I mean, don’t you own a lot of vintage t-shirts?” First of all, how do you know what I have in my wardrobe? Have you been sneaking into my walls again? But, you’re totally right.
I bought all of those back in 2021 or so, and I then proceeded to never wear them again. Why? It’s so boring! We’ve seen the outfit a million times, vintage white t-shirt, light blue jeans, and some Air Forces. It’s sickening. To make things worse, most clothing brands nowadays are trying to make fake vintage shirts! Whether that’s H&M, Kohls, or Walmart, everyone is making shirts about “Nirvana” and “Pacman”. If I had to guess, most of these shirts weren’t released hundreds of years ago.
However, this isn’t to say that vintage clothing can’t be cool. I love most vintage clothing; the designs on most of these pieces are so much more fun and experimental, almost forgotten in modern-day pieces. But, the massive commercialization of vintage clothing makes me think that we’ve gone too far.
