The Sun and the Moon

You were the sun,
and I was the moon.
Balancing each other perfectly
and understanding one another from afar.
Perhaps it’s because you were
once the moon in your past.
And that’s what gave me faith
that I, too, could become the sun.
Yet you remained the sun,
and I the moon.
