A little hand reaches out
for the bigger hand beside it
They connect and clasp
shut around each other
Now hand in hand the pair
begins across the bridge
The other end seems so
far to the little hand,
but with the bigger hand holding
her tight she knows she can make it
Months pass by
while seasons change
Birthdays and holidays
come and go
Hair now wispy and grey
and eyes that turned milky with age
The tree that once looked as tall
as a bush now towers over the bridge
giving it relief from the grueling sun
A big hand reaches out
for the smaller hand beside it
They connect and clasp
shut around each other
Now hand in hand the pair
begins across the bridge
The other end seems so
far to the big hand,
but with the smaller hand holding
him tight he knows he can make it
