With the end of the year approaching, the dreaded finals week approaches as well. Finals place a lot of pressure on students, requiring them to remember everything they learned from the previous 9 months for 90 minutes. Here’s some tips to help reduce the stress and make the end of the year a lot easier.
Start Studying Soon
- With finals covering material for 7 classes over 4 marking periods, there is a lot of material to remember. By starting early, you can just study a little bit for each class over the next few weeks. However, if you start early, make sure you keep reviewing material in order to keep it fresh in your memory
Don’t Procrastinate
- When you eventually do start studying, make sure you are actually studying. We’re all victim to “studying” for ten minutes and then getting distracted. Also, don’t put it off until later in the night, because then you’ll be “too tired” and “will just do it in the morning” (no you won’t, we never do).
Hold Yourself Accountable
- If you say you’re going to study, do something to make sure you actually do. Eliminate distractions like your phone, friends and family, games, etc.
Understand the Environment of Your Final
- Just because something seems like common sense when you’ve been awake for more than an hour, doesn’t it will for your final at 7:30 A.M.
