The rivalry between Freehold Borough and Freehold Township, known as the Battle of the Duke, is one of the most anticipated and fierce football games of the year. This Thursday night Township claimed victory for the third year in a row, but Boro did not go down without a fight.
Throughout the entire game, both teams battled relentlessly, never willing to give up. Township’s sharp plays and strong teamwork did not go unnoticed, but Boro’s determination kept the game alive. As the cheerleaders got louder each second the game went by and more people from each opposing team joined the student or parent section, the rush of energy coming from each player on the field is what we all look forward to when watching the game.
At the end of the game, the score being 32-20 Township was a crushing loss for the Colonials. We fought until the last second of the 4th quarter, but in the end Township scored the winning touchdown. But Boro is not defeated. We will come back stronger than ever next year and bring home the Trophy.
