“So?” Vyce asks. “What do you plan on doing?”
I stare at the gray clouds. “…Die…?” I wait for Vyce to respond, but he doesn’t. “It is the only rational thing I can do.” I pour another glass of wine. “…Either way, I am dead.” He was the only person who knew about my condition. But I knew he wouldn’t tell anyone, since I blackmailed him.
“You don’t necessarily know that,” he shakes his head. “You told me Lady Lyte-”
“That was so…so idiotic though.” I interrupt. “Why would she…that’s so…” I was more flustered now. “Someone of royalty has no right to-” I cut myself off when I see him laughing. “What?”
“Nothing,” he keeps grinning. “I just think you are worrying too much.”
“Yeah, because you know what it’s like having to keep this dark of a secret.” I roll my eyes.
Vyce frowns. “If she didn’t like you, I’m sure you would have been dead right now.”
I scoff. He was nothing but a thief for his family. Vyce tried robbing the Imperial castle a year ago, in hopes to pawn off some expensive jewelry. Since I am more active at night, I caught him trying to swipe valuables from the living room. I am in no place to shame people for struggling financially, so I let him go. To be honest though, I was appalled by his thievery tactics. He always carries alzicuses everywhere he goes…I mean everywhere. Vyce had a strange obsession with them, more than Lyte. His tracks are always revealed with the path of petals. I never understood it, as I used to somewhat steal myself. No matter how many times I object, he won’t budge to get rid of his love for flowers.
“Look at the alzicuses, Zy,” he picks up a bunch of them. “Found em’ at the market…”
“More?” I smile. “What occasion this time?”
He blushes. “Met a girl…”
“Huh,” I playfully scoffed. “…You know, the royal garden has assorted alzicuses…”
“You…you aren’t thinking about…” he doesn’t finish his sentence.
“My life is boring as ever, come on, you can pick out something she would like.” I get up.
“And you say I’m reckless.” he frowns.
“Oh, you are,” I grab his arm to pull him up. “At least I’m smart about it though, let’s go.”
“Goddess, save us…”
