Freehold High School’s drama club is known for putting on amazing performances two times each year. Their most recent production being the straight play Sweeney Todd (The Demon Barber of the Barbary Coast. But what are they up to now? Luckily, I have some inside knowledge on the subject. FHSDAC is currently learning and rehearsing for their upcoming performance of the musical Mamma Mia. The show is about a young girl named Sophie who is soon to be wed to her fiance, Sky. But before the big wedding, she wants to make sure her father is there to give her away. The only problem, Sophie doesn’t know who her father is! When she investigates her mother’s (Donna’s) diary, she learns that her father is one of three men, Harry, Sam, or Bill. Quickly, she secretly invites all three of them. Unfortunately for the men, Donna is none too pleased to see them again.
We have an amazing cast of 30 Boro students of all ages. Our bunch includes Peyton Medvedich as Sophie, Jonathan Goetke as Sky, Cayden Jay as Harry, Tyler Fahmy as Sam, David Goetke as Bill, and Helaina Pace as Donna. Though, of course, all cast members are working hard to be the best Dancing Queens they can be!
Our tech crew, filled with many skilled Boro alumni, including Jenna Elsamman, Alex Chrostowski, and Alex Kociuba, is working hard to build our beautiful Greek taverna set and function our technology. And thanks to the hard work of our fundraising students, we are able to afford the high costs of this wonderful show!
Thanks to adult help, such as Ms. Sweeney, Mr. Gross, Mr. Gunther, Mrs. Donna, and Mrs. Kitty Boro’s drama club is going to put on a spectacular show with three performances! One of these shows will be on March 7th and two will be on March 8th. Ticket link coming soon so be on the lookout!
Lately, our cast has been rehearsing four days a week! Two of those rehearsals being vocals only. Mamma Mia has songs such as Money Money Money, Dancing Queen, Slippin’ Through My Fingers, and Waterloo. As you may have noticed, all of the songs in Mamma Mia are written by ABBA. Our cast spends hours each week practicing their harmonies and memorizing their lines and lyrics! Pretty soon, our cast is expected to be off-book for the whole show! They will continue to run through dances and scenes at rehearsals until they are perfect!
